trust is a very important concept

With the recent events around horsemeat illegally entering the food-chain across Europe, this comes as a shock to many in first world countries who think they are immune to unethical companies or adulteration of their food. Given the UK BSE scare many years ago and the supposed world leading controls around sourcing (including barcoding for all cows entering the foodchain), one wonders what use controls are for if those that should follow them can ignore them for greater profits. Systems and quality processes are only as good as those who follow them on the production line and as fellow humans, we assume an element of integrity and trust in those who prepare our food. After the Sanlu milk powder scandal, the current european horsemeat, and now antibiotic concerns from the regulator for KFC in China, who can you trust?
